Project Overview
Regency Park Apartments
Regency Park Apartments is a very large apartment community near Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Int’l Airport, which is undergoing a very major renovation. We were fortunate to have been awarded the contract to perform the asphalt rehabilitation due to a successful relationship that we have had with the project manager for the last 20 years.
The scope of work involved: Perma-Flex Paving 2 phases of the property, approximately 30,000 square yards; overlaying another section with 1.5 inches of 9.5 mm asphalt topping; paving a new asphalt parking lot with 6 inches of GAB, 2 inches of 19 mm binder, and 1.5 inches of 9.5 mm asphalt topping; sealcoating approximately 12,000 sq. yds. of asphalt (to be completed in June 2015), and of course all of the striping for the above work. On the accompanying map below, the yellow and blue areas are the Perma-Flex Paving areas, the red is the 1.5 inch overlay, the purple is the new paving, and the orange is the asphalt sealcoating area.
One thing to notice in the pictures below is our use of an infra-red temperature gun that is used on all of our paving projects. We are one of the few asphalt paving contractors in Atlanta that use this device to check the temperature of the asphalt when coming from the plant and during the paving project. If asphalt is too cold it cannot be laid properly and compaction cannot be achieved, which will result in raveling and pavement failures. Conversely, hot asphalt needs to cool just a bit before properly rolling and compaction can be achieved. It is important to choose an asphalt paving contractor who has experience and uses the proper tools, equipment, and experienced workers to complete the project in a professional manner with quality results.
